Eagles CB Darius Slay not happy with postponement of game against Washington

The Philadelphia Eagles were slated to host the Washington Football Team on Sunday. However, Washington had a COVID-19 outbreak, as 22 players have landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

After discussions between the NFL and NFL Players’ Association, the league agreed to postpone the game until Tuesday. This allows Washington a couple of days to get some of their players back from COVID.

But that doesn’t benefit the Eagles, who have been preparing all week for a game Sunday. Shortly following the announcement of postponement, Eagles cornerback Darius Slay voiced his frustration with the decision.

As a consequence for moving the game from Sunday to Tuesday, both Washington and the Eagles will receive four days rest before their next games which will be played the following Sunday.

It’s another aspect that Slay is not happy about.

Slay wasn’t the only one upset with the matter. His teammate and fellow cornerback Rodney McLeod took to Twitter as well.

Las Vegas Raiders linebacker KJ Wright displayed his frustration on Twitter.

The Raiders were originally scheduled to play at the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. However, the Browns had 19 players, and counting added to the reserve/COVID-19 list, forcing the league to postpone their game until Monday evening.

The Seattle Seahawks are probably upset too. Their game against the Los Angeles Rams was moved from Sunday to Tuesday as well.

The NFL made it clear at the start of the season, games would not be rescheduled for COVID-19. The league also hung over the possibility teams affected by COVID-19 could forfeit games if an outbreak was linked to unvaccinated player or players.

Yet, the league did not do so with this concerning instance. Washington is relieved they get a couple more days to try and get back as many players that’s possible. But for the Eagles, the ramifications are unpleasing. They have no major number of cases and are ready to play.

Eagles will play three games in a span of 13 days.

This game against Washington has a lot of importance. Washington currently holds the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC with a 6-7 record. The Eagles are also 6-7 and a win will increase their chances at stealing a spot.
