Washington will be without seven assistant coaches vs. Eagles due to COVID-19

The Washington Football Team will be without seven assistant coaches for Tuesday’s rescheduled game against the Philadelphia Eagles due to COVID-19.

The team announced Monday, defensive line coach Sam Mills, wide receivers coach Drew Terrell, running backs coach Randy Jordan, defensive back Chris Harris, assistant defensive backs coach Brent Vieselmeyer, defensive quality control coach Vincent Rivera and defensive coaching intern Christian Garcia were all placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Washington shuffled around the coaching assignments to accommodate the loss of the coaches.

Washington placed as many as 23 players on the reserve/COVID-19 list last week. That forced the NFL to postpone Washington’s game at the Eagles from Sunday to Tuesday.

The team has activated a few players back to the active roster, including defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and Matt Ioannidis as well as defensive end Montez Sweat. However, both of Washington’s top-two quarterbacks, Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen, remain in protocol just a day ahead of the game.

Starting right guard Brandon Scherff also was placed on the COVID-19 list Monday, adding more of a hamper for Washington’s efforts.

Both Washington and Philadelphia enter the game with 6-7 records and sit just one-half game back of the New Orleans Saints for the seventh and final spot in the NFC playoff picture.
