The Maryland Terrapins bolstered their receiving corps, landing a former four-star recruit from the transfer portal. Florida wide receiver Jacob Copeland announced Friday he is transferring to Maryland.
Some may remember Copeland when his mother — wearing Alabama gear — walked out of the gym when he initially announced his commitment to Florida over the Crimson Tide.
As a junior Copeland led Florida with 41 catches and 642 touchdowns with four touchdowns.
He opted out of Florida’s bowl and entered the transfer portal.
Copeland’s transfer comes on the heels of Maryland senior Dontay Demus Jr. announcing he will return to the team next season after a season-ending knee injury.
Copeland and Demus will join former five-star recruit Rakim Jarrett. It’s also expected Jeshaun Jones will return for next season as well. Jones too will be coming off a season-ending knee injury.
Maryland also picked up four wide receiver commitments during early National Signing Day, incuding a pair of four-star recruits Shaleak Knotts and Octavian Smith Jr.
