Washington Football Team safety Deshazor Everett was involved in a fatal car crash, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia confirmed per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.
Everett was the driver of a 2010 Nissan GT-R that veered off the right side of the roadway of Gum Spring Road near Ticonderoga Road, struck several trees and rolled over.
A female passenger, Olivia S. Peters, 29, of Las Vegas, Nevada died of her injuries at a local hospital.
Everett suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
The Washington Football Team released a statement. The team was alerted by the NFL office of the accident. Washington is working with local authorities as the team “continue to gather more information.”
Deshzor Everett signed with Washington in 2015 after going undrafted in 2014 out of Texas A&M. He hatched on the team playing special teams. He ultimately became captain of special teams.
Everett has played in 89 games with 1701 snaps on special teams. He also has 17 starts at safety throughout his time in Washington.
He played 10 defensive snaps in Tuesday’s loss to the Eagles. Against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 13, he played a season-high 26 defensive snaps with injuries to Landon Collins.
