Wizards announcer apologizes for remark about Kevin Porter Jr. father

Washington Wizards announcer Glenn Consor issued an apology for remarks he made about the father of Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. during Wednesday’s game.

Consor said he mistaken Porter Jr. to being the son of Kevin Porter, who played in the NBA for 10 seasons from 1972-83. He played six seasons with the Washington Bullets franchise.

Porter’s actual father, who full name is Bryan Kevin Porter Sr., served more than four years in prison for first-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of a 14-year old girl in 1993. Porter Sr. was shot and killed in 2004 in Seattle when Porter Jr. was four years old.

Consor said he reached out and to apologize personally to Porter Jr.

Porter hit the game-winning three with 0.4 seconds remaining to give the Rockets the 114-111 win over the Wizards. Hopefully, Consor speaks to Porter soon to hash out the horrible mistake.
