Tristan Thompson has showed out against the Washington Wizards throughout his career. Wednesday was no different. Playing with the Indiana Pacers, Thompson overpowered the Wizards interior defense for 17 points off the bench.
He shot 8-of-9 from the field. He added six rebounds in 21 minutes as the Pacers down the Wizards 113-108.
His strong performance apparently will be a parting gift for the Pacers. Head coach Rick Carlisle announced shortly after the game, Indiana is set to waive Thompson Thursday. Carlisle added the 6-foot-9 big will sign with the Chicago Bulls after clearing waivers.
Thompson played just four games with Indiana after being traded from the Sacramento Kings. The Pacers aren’t going anywhere with a 20-40 record. Thus, he’ll get an opportunity to play with a contender in Chicago. The Bulls are in first-place in the Eastern Conference.
Against the Wizards, Thompson reached double digits in points for the first time since Dec. 20. He was a huge part of the Pacers scoring 74 points in the paint. Now he will part ways and head to Chicago to join DeMar DeRozan, Zach Lavine and company.
