Green Bay Packers CEO Mark Murphy revealed Green Bay, Detroit and Washington, DC are the three finalists to host the 2024 NFL Draft, according to NBC26-Green Bay’s Rachel Hopmayer.
From 1965-2014 the NFL Draft was held in New York City. The league began rotating the location cities in 2015 with Chicago.
This year the draft will be held in Las Vegas in April. Kansas City will host the 2023 draft.
Of the finalists for 2024, only DC has previously held the draft. You’d have to go all the way back to 1941 when the draft was held at the Willard Hotel.
Nowadays the draft is held at or near the NFL stadium in the host city. However, Washington could present the idea of multiple locations besides at or near FedEx Field in suburban Landover, Maryland.
Some fans on Twitter have already pointed to using the National Mall in downtown DC.
Murphy hinted to a decision being made by the end of March during the league meetings.
