Washington loses bid to host 2024 NFL Draft

Last month it was revealed through Green Bay Packers CEO Mark Murphy, Green Bay, Detroit and Washington, D.C. were finalists to host the 2024 NFL Draft. During the league meeting on Monday, it was announced the Motor City won the bid and will be the home of the draft in two years.

This year’s draft will be in Las Vegas. Last week the league officially announced Kansas City would host the event in 2023.

Washington was hoping to host the draft for the first time since 1941. With the Super Bowl not in the cards, hosting the draft would have been a major deal for the nation’s capital.

Maybe it’s possible the city could be involved in the process for 2025?

If Washington could get an opportunity to host the draft, there are a number of possible venues outside of the Commanders’ home stadium, FedEx Field. Options would include the National Mall in downtown D.C.
