The Washington Nationals and Washington Wizards have collaborated with Nike to unveil cherry blossom-themed uniforms. The ongoing Cherry Blossom festival is a large part of the nation’s capital.
The Nationals uniforms are the first of seven City Connect uniforms to be part of Major League Baseball’s 2022 season.
The Nationals will first wear the “Blooming” threads on April 9 against the New York Mets. Fans will have the opportunity to get a hold of them Wednesday when the club’s team store will host a launch party.
The cherry blossoms will extend to the hardwood as well. The Wizards unveiled their Bloom City uniforms on Tuesday as well.
The pink represents the cherry blossoms while the blue illustrates the blue water in the Tidal Basin that surrounds the beautiful pink trees.
The bummer is the Wizards uniforms won’t be worn until next season. They won’t be available to fans to purchase until November 2022.
This is the first time NBA and MLB teams have collaborated on uniforms. In both cases, Nike made a huge splash with the DC teams. It will take a lot to be more impressive with the other city-theme uniforms in their respective leagues.
