Scuffle between Magic and Hornets results in three ex-Wizards being ejected

Robin Lopez, Admiral Schofield and Montrezl Harrell were ejected during Thursday’s game between the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets. The three were involved in a scuffle during the fourth quarter of a blowout game.

Tension boiled over during a foul near the basket. The scuffle escalated when Lopez barreled through the crowd. That prompted Harrell to face up with Lopez. Then Schofield pushed Harrell in the back. From there bodies were being pushed around and away from the fray.

Coincidentally, all three players ejected are former Washington Wizards. Neither spent more than one season in Washington. And neither were teammates while in a Wizards uniform.

Schofield spent his rookie season in the league in 2019-20 with Washington. He was traded to Oklahoma City before ultimately landing with the Magic this season.

Lopez spent the following season during 2020-21 with the Wizards. However, he signed with the Magic as a free agent this past summer.

Meanwhile, Harrell started this season with the Wizards after being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers. He lasted 46 games in Washington. He was traded to Hornets ahead of the trade deadline.

The Hornets won the game 128-101. The Magic are preparing for the NBA lottery. Meanwhile, the Hornets are locked into a spot in the play-in tournament.
