Maryland lands first commitment under new head coach Kevin Willard

Kevin Willard has landed his first commitment since becoming the head coach at Maryland.

Three-star class of 2022 small forward Noah Batchelor announced his commitment via Twitter on Monday.

The 6-foot-6 Batchelor is a native of Ellicott City, Maryland. However he played at IMG Academy in Florida.

Batchelor initially committed to Memphis but reopened his recruiting in February. He had his official visit to Maryland over the weekend, according to Jeff Ermann of Inside MD Sports. He chose the Terps over other programs including Florida, Pittsburgh, UNLV and Michigan among others.

There was a great deal of patience from Batchelor during his recruiting process. He went as far to wait out Maryland choosing a permanent head coach before making his decision.

“I picked Maryland because it is home,” Batchelor said to On3.

Another factor was his family will get to see him at every home game.

According to 247 Sports, Batchelor is rated as the No. 221 player in the nation and 46th among small forwards. On3 ranks him as the No. 172 player overall in the country.
