The first schedule clue for the Washington Commanders may have been dropped by an opponent’s insider.
According to 670 The Score’s Danny Parkins, the Commanders will travel to the Chicago Bears in Week 6 on Oct. 13 for a primetime Thursday Night Football game.
The NFL will reveal its 2022 schedule in entirety late Thursday. It’s already known who each team will play and where – with the recent release of the international series of games. However, the order and when every game will be played is unknown.
Pitting the Commanders and Bears on Thursday Night Football makes a lot of sense in regards to TV ratings. Washington and Chicago are two of the biggest viewing markets in the nation.
The Commanders in recent years has been a primetime darling for ratings thanks to the DC market. Whenever they go align with another strong market such as Chicago, New York, Philadelphia or Dallas, it’s usually a touchdown for the NFL.
Keep in mind, starting this season, Thursday Night Football shifts to Amazon Prime. Amazon has hired the legendary Al Michaels away from NBC to do their play-by-play. ESPN’s college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit will be the lead analyst for the TNF package.
If you’re wondering, newly acquired Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz is a perfect 3-0 vs. the Bears in his career. All three meetings occurred while he played for the Philadelphia Eagles. He had five touchdowns and zero interceptions in those three games combined. Although, the last time he played the Bears was in 2019.
