Brian Robinson Jr. took an enormous step towards getting on the football field. During the Washington Commanders’ practice Wednesday, the rookie running back worked out on the side. It was a remarkable sight, considering where he was nearly three weeks ago.
Robinson, Washington’s third-round draft pick this year, was prepared to be the Commanders’ starting running back. Those plans were derailed on Aug. 28, as he was shot twice during an attempted robbery in Washington, D.C.
One of the bullets struck him in his right knee. Miraculously, Robinson survived the shooting and avoided severe knee damage from the bullet.
The Commanders, however, placed him on the non-football injury list. Robinson will be out a minimum of four games. There is hope he could return by Week 5.
Wednesday was the first time Robinson had been seen working out since the shooting. Cameras captured him riding a stationary bike.
Robinson had his knee wrapped. After riding the bike, he stretched and did agility and ladder drills with the trainer.
While the team hasn’t specified the extent of his injuries, it’s becoming more evident that Robinson will bounce back from the shooting from a football standpoint.
Whether it’s Week 5 or not, Robinson getting back on the field this season will be astonishing and a sight for sore eyes.
