The Washington Commanders have made a switch at center. According to Sam Fortier of the Washington Post, Tyler Larsen will start Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bears in place of Nick Martin. The switch is not injury related.
Larsen is the fourth center to start for the Commanders six weeks into the season. Martin, who signed with the team on Sept. 20, started the past two games. Washington’s Week 1 starting center, Chase Roullier, is likely out for the remainder of the season following knee surgery. Wes Schweitzer got placed on injured reserve after he suffered a concussion in Week 3.
Larsen started the season on the physically-unable-to-perform list stemming from an Achilles injury from last December. He played three special teams snaps during Sunday’s loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Last season, Larsen started three games at center in place of Roullier before his season ended after getting carted off the field during a Week 14 game.
Thursday, Larsen will make his 22nd career start.
