Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz was due to have his throwing hand and previously ailing shoulder evaluated by doctors Friday, per head coach Ron Rivera.
Wentz entered Thursday’s game against the Chicago Bears with a sore shoulder. However, he injured his throwing hand during the game. Wentz banged his hand against Bears defensive lineman Justin Jones’ hand while throwing a pass in the second quarter.
Wentz finished the game but was noticeably agitated throughout the game. He struggled to throw the football. He completed 12-of-22 passes for meager 99 yards. The hand and shoulder injuries didn’t prevent Wentz from delivering a pancake block on Bears linebacker Roquan Smith during a Brian Robinson run. The Commanders scored the go-ahead touchdown on the ensuing play.
According to NFL Network’s Clayton Holloway, Wentz went into the X-ray room after the Commanders’ 12-7 win. Now the team will have to wait and see the results of Wentz’s evaluation from Friday.
