Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not practice Wednesday with a right thumb injury. Rodgers played his ailment in the Packers’ 27-10 loss to the New York Jets in Week 6. He initially suffered the injury the week prior against the New York Giants in London.
Despite missing Wednesday’s practice, the four-time NFL MVP plans to play Sunday against the Washington Commanders.
“I’ll go to ad practice [Thursday] and Friday and take it easy Saturday and be ready to go Sunday,” Rodgers said, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
Rodgers also missed practice last Wednesday. However, he was on the field against the Jets. He completed 25-of-41 passes for 246 yards and one touchdown. But he was sacked four times for the second game this season.
This season has been a struggle early on for Rodgers and the Green Bay offense. Rodgers is still getting used to playing without All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, who got traded to the Las Vegas Raiders this past offseason.
Through six games, Rodgers has a career-low 38.4 QBR. His 6.7 yards per attempt matches his career-lowest since becoming a full-time starter in 2008.
The Packers have a disappointing 3-3 record following back-to-back losses to the New York franchises. Rodgers called for coaches to “simplify” the offense.
