Magic Johnson promoted Commanders all the way in Greece while vacationing

The ink hasn’t dried yet on the sale of the Washington Commanders, but that has not stopped its most notable limited partner from promoting the team. Training camp started Wednesday, but Magic Johnson is on vacation with his family and enjoying the breather in style.

Johnson posted a picture of him with his family on a yacht, with everyone rocking Commanders gear.

Magic Johnson is part of a group led by majority owner Josh Harris that bought the Commanders for an NFL record $6.05 billion from Dan Snyder. NFL owners unanimously approved the sale last week. Johnson reportedly owns four percent of the team.

That morning, Johnson appeared on NBC’s Today Show. He got emotional, discussing the magnitude of being an African-American and getting the chance to be a part of an NFL ownership group.

He also revealed “everything is on the table” for the new ownership to tackle, including a possible name change from the Commanders. Washington fans have been heavily discussing the team’s name on social media following Johnson’s comments.

A potential name change wouldn’t go into effect until at least 2025. For now, those with a say are focusing on their work with the team as the Commanders. Johnson is doing his part as the unofficial brand ambassador.
