Before entering the NFL, Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore starred at the University of Maryland. On Thursday, playing against the Washington Commanders, whose home stadium is down the road from the school, is already off to his best game of the 2023 season.
Moore has scorched the Commanders’ secondary for 137 yards on five catches and two touchdowns in the first half… actually the first 16 minutes of the game.
Moore’s first touchdown occurred on the Bears opening drive. He got behind Commanders cornerback Kendall Fuller as Fields dropped a beautiful pass in the corner of the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown.
Then at the start of the second quarter, Fields dropped another pass in the bucket to Moore over Fuller for an 11-yard touchdown.
Included in Moore’s scorching was a 39-yard reception in which he spun off an arm tackle by rookie Emmanuel Forbes before eventually getting pushed out of bounds.
Washington’s secondary has some notable names. But it doesn’t matter who they are DJ Moore is serving them up. Thanks to Moore’s efforts, the Bears took a 27-3 lead into halftime.
