Ex-Maryland star Anthony Cowan enters new chapter of career by signing with BC Wolves

The BC Wolves have made a great addition to their roster by signing former University of Maryland star Anthony Cowan Jr. The team announced the signing via X/Twitter, marking a new chapter for Cowan and the team.

Past Accomplishments

Anthony Cowan Jr. starred at St. John’s College High School in Washington, DC prior to committing to Maryland for his collegiate career. Cowan was recognized for his ability to score, leadership, and clutch performances as a Terrapin.

He played four seasons at Maryland, finishing with 1,881 points, 584 assists, and 508 rebounds during a career that made him one of the best guards in Terrapins’ history.

Cowan was a three-time All-Big Ten Conference player, earning first-team honors in 2020. He led Maryland to a Big Ten regular season title in 2020.

Professional Journey

Anthony Cowan went undrafted in 2020. However, he was a first-round draft pick by the Memphis Hustle of the NBA’s G-League. He continued his career overseas, playing for Aris BC and Promitheas Patras in Greece.

Cowan found his footing with Promitheas, showing his potential in the EuroCup. In 2023, he earned Round 16 and 17 MVPs in the EuroCup regular season.

In Round 16 against the London Lions, Cowan set a career-high of 26 points with 11 assists. He captured MVP honors in the next round in an 84-81 win over Paris Basketball.

Cowan averaged 14.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.1 rebounds this past season in the GBL. Patras reached the quarterfinals behind Cowan’s leadership. He finished with 17.8 points on 48% shooting from the field, 5.4 assists, and 2.9 rebounds in the Euroleague.

Cowan’s signing is seen as a strategic move by BC Wolves to better their backcourt, bringing in a player with international experience and proven talent.
