Commanders answer Bengals after Jayden Daniels converts 4th down pass

Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels made his Monday Night Football debut in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Daniels started the game watching fellow former LSU stars Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels connect for a 41-yard touchdown on the Bengals’ opening drive. However, Daniels answered on his first drive of the game.

Daniels led the Commanders on a 10-play, 78-yard drive for an answering touchdown. As a passer, Daniels was perfect. He completed all three pass attempts for 52 touchdowns, including a huge 4th-and-2 conversion.

The Commanders got in the fourth down situation at the Bengals’ 32-yard line. Knowing the momentum was leaning on the Bengals in the home Cincinnati crowd, Washington rolled the dice and left the offense on the field despite being in field goal range.

The gamble proved worth it, as Daniels stood tall in the pocket and found rookie wide receiver Luke McCaffrey for a 30-yard gain before McCaffrey stepped out of bounds at the two-yard line.

The fourth-down conversion set up a one-yard touchdown for running back Brian Robinson to tie the game at 7-7. It’s early, but it’s clear the Commanders are not intimidated by Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
