Marvin Harrison Jr hauls in fourth-down TD on opening drive for Cardinals

In a battle of the two most dynamic rookies thus far this season, Arizona Cardinals first-year wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. struck first against Jayden Daniels’ Washington Commanders. Harrison hauled in a two-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kyler Murray on the opening drive of the game.

Arizona marched 55 yards on nine plays on the first drive of the game. Cardinals running back James Connor rushed for 31 yards on five attempts. Murray completed all three of his passes. Yet, the Cardinals faced a 4th-and-inches from Washington’s two-yard line.

Knowing the Commanders offense hadn’t punted in two games, scoring on every possession, excluding a kneel down on the final drive in Monday’s win over Cincinnati, Arizona’s head coach Jonathan Gannon rolled the dice.

The Cardinals spread the offense out. After a hard count from Murray, found Harrison on an out route as the rookie beat Commanders cornerback Noah Igbinoghene in coverage to give Arizona the early 7-0 lead.

Harrison now has four touchdowns through his first four games.

Now we’ll see if the scorching out Daniels can respond on his first drive of the game.
