Terrelle Pryor has been a huge disappointment for the Washington Redskins. The wide receiver has 20 catches for 240 yards and one touchdown through eight games. The Redskins signed Pryor to a one-year deal worth $6 million last March after he posted a career season with the Cleveland Browns, catching 77 passes for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns.

The Redskins were hoping Pryor along with Josh Doctson would be sufficing to replace the departed Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson. However, for Pryor that has not been the case. His sluggish start to 2017 has resulted in him being benched in favor of Doctson at the “X” position. Subsequently he has slid to the fourth wide receiver on the depth chart behind Doctson, Jamison Crowder, and Ryan Grant.

Meanwhile, the Browns have been lost without Pryor. Kenny Britt, the guy the Browns chose to go with instead of Pryor, has been just as disappointing with 10 receptions for 128 yards and one touchdown. Call it buyer’s remorse, but according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns reached out to the Redskins in hopes of a trade for Pryor ahead of last month’s trade deadline.

The Redskins were not interested. One reasoning could be the fact, the Redskins have already footed $4.5 million of the $6 million owed to Pryor this season. Pryor had $2 million worth of incentives in his one-year deal with Washington. However, those incentives are not likely to be reached.

As a free agent, Pryor turned down a four-year deal that would have paid him about $8 million per year. He and his agent Drew Rosenhaus were looking for $10 million per year, according to Cabot. In turn the Browns opted for Britt, who also was a target of the Redskins, for a similarly close deal they had offered Pryor. Pryor settled with the Redskins with the thought of betting on himself.

Unfortunately, it appears he will crap out on that bet. He has yet to fit in the Redskins offense with quarterback Kirk Cousins. The Redskins offense has suffered for it, and forced head coach Jay Gruden to turn to other options.

Entering Week 10, Pryor is rated as the 102nd wide receiver in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus. He is the only Redskins’ wide receiver with a grade lower than 70.4 — Pryor is graded at 43.2.
