Wide receiver Terry McLaurin and rookie running back Antonio Gibson sat out of practice once again, according to the Washington Football Team PR.
McLaurin has a high-ankle sprain that has kept him out of practice since Week 15’s loss against the Seattle Seahawks. He did not play in last week’s loss ot the Carolina Panthers.
Gibson has been dealing with a turf toe injury since Week 13. He missed the following two games before returning last week against the Panthers. However, he did not practice Thursday.
Washington head coach Ron Rivera said on Thursday, Gibson is “fine” and that McLaurin “looked good” moving around some during the closed portion of Thursday’s practice off to the side.
Still having their top two premier offensive weapons out of the final practice before game day is concerning. Washington (6-9) must win Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFC East and make the playoffs.
Washington practiced indoors Friday due to the inclement weather. Rivera has previously stated the team would be cautious with Gibson, McLaurin and others indoors as the turf could be problematic for players dealing similar injuries.
