Dwayne Haskins set out to be a team captain for the Washington Football Team. Wednesday, the quarterback got his wish. Head coach Ron Rivera named the 2020 Washington captains after practice. Haskins was one of five voted by the players to be team captains.
Haskins is entering his second season in the NFL with a great deal of confidence he didn’t have last year as a rookie. With a new coach who challenged him, Haskins worked this off-season to transform his body and mindset.
That transformation helped earn him the starting quarterback for Week 1 and now a “C” on his jersey.
Haskins joins right guard Brandon Scherff, defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, safety Landon Collins and special teams standout Deshazor Everett.
For Allen, Scherff and Collins, this is their second time being Washington captains. This is the third straight season Everett has been named a captain.
