Former Maryland recruit quarterback AJ Swann has a new home. The three-star quarterback from Georgia recently committed to Vanderbilt.
The 22nd ranked quarterback in the nation, and the 39th ranked player in the state of Georgia decommitted from the University Of Maryland. Swann of Cherokee Christain School threw 6.,931 yards and 65 touchdowns against 22 interceptions during his high school career at Cherokee High School. He led the Warriors to the Georgia’s AAAAAAA playoffs this season.
Swann’s started the year with four touchdowns against May High School in an impressive 52-6 win.
Swann was offered by the University of Maryland in late December of 2020. He committed to be a Terp in March of 2021.
Swann received offers from a lot of D-1 schools, including Vanderbilt. He announced his decomittment from Maryland in November.
“I committed over the pandemic, so Vanderbilt had offered me right before I committed to Maryland,” Swann said per John Garcia of Sports Illustrated.
Coach Clark Lea had this to say about the new QB: “I have a lot of faith in him and what the program is capable of next year.”
Swann wants to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. But the Commodores went 2-10 this season. He’ll look change that program around drastically.
Meanwhile for Maryland, they still have a commitment from in-state three-star commit Jayden Sauray of Upper Marlboro. Taulia Tagovailoa is expected to be the starter next year after a record-breaking 2021 season.
