Carter Kieboom was called up to the Nationals Friday, and already he has two home runs in short MLB career that has spanned just three games. The young shortstop was part of history Sunday in the Nationals’ 7-6 comeback win over the San Diego Padres.

Kieboom, who is 21 years of age, hit a solo shot to left in the sixth tied the game at 6-6 after the Nationals had trailed 6-0 early in the game. His home run completed a feat that had not been done before since at least 1908. Juan Soto, who is 20 years old, and Victor Robles, who 21 years old, each homered as well. With Kieboom’s home run, the Nationals became the first team since at least 1908 to have three players under the age of 22 to hit home runs in the same game, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Soto hammered a three-run home run in the third that cut the Nationals’ deficit in half to 6-3. After the Nationals tact on a fourth run in the same inning, Robles hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to one at 6-5.

Kieboom’s blast was also his second game-tying home run of career. Unlike Friday’s homer, the feat did not go in vain. Veteran Matt Adams blasted an upper deck walk-off home run in the 11th to propel Washington to victory.

While the Nationals are struggling at the moment with a 12-14 record, life after Bryce Harper seems a lot less gloomy with the power-hitting trio. The future of the franchise appears to be in their hands along with Anthony Rendon and Trea Turner.

Sunday’s win was a glimpse, as the young trio powered the Nationals’ rally before Adams capped it.
