Sheldon Mac Reportedly Out 6-8 Months with Torn Achilles

The Washington Wizards’ fears have been confirmed, as backup swing Sheldon Mac will be out six-to-eight months following surgery on his torn left Achilles, according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania. Mac will undergo the surgery on Tuesday morning.

The second-year pro suffered the injury during Sunday’s preseason win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was driving to the basket as his foot gave way.

The timeline would essentially eliminate him for the regular season and given the Wizards stature in the Eastern Conference, they may look to plug his spot in the roster. Mac, 25, is playing on the second year of a two-year non-guaranteed deal.
