Wizards Fear Sheldon Mac Suffered Torn Achilles

As NBA teams stroll through the preseason preparing for the regular season, the biggest fear is injuries. Unfortunately, the Washington Wizards face that fear. Reserve swing man Sheldon Mac exited Sunday’s win over the Cleveland Cavaliers after he crashed to the floor while driving to the basket.

Trainers ultimately helped him off the court into the locker room. The Wizards announced Mac will receive an MRI on Monday for an lower left injury.

Losing Mac will dent the Wizards’ overall depth. An undrafted second-year pro, Mac was expected to help shore up depth on the wing. He is in the second year of a two-year deal that is non-guaranteed this season. He receives $50,000 as part of the contract. However, the rest of the salary isn’t guaranteed until Jan. 10. And with Washington looking for a top-3 finish in the Eastern Conference, the team could move on from him by releasing him for contributing piece.
