John Wall may be inching closer to his return on the basketball court. The Washington Wizards point guard participated in his first 5-on-5 practice since injuring his left knee back on Dec. . According to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post, Wall “felt great” afterwards. However, he will not play in Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Wall received platelet-rich plasma and viscosupplementation injections on Nov. 25. He had experienced swelling in the knee after making knee-to-knee contact during a Nov. 7 game against the Dallas Mavericks. He tried to play through it but was not as effective. An MRI revealed the necessity to receive the PRP injections. The Wizards initially announced Wall would miss “approximately two weeks.”
But, the process of recovery has taken longer than initially diagnosed. Friday’s participation was his first practice since the injury. It was reported Thursday evening, Wall could return by “the middle of next week.”
Wall last played on Nov. 22 in a game against the Charlotte Hornets. He is averaging 20.3 points and 9.2 assists per game. Washington is 4-3 during his latest absence thanks in large due to the emergence of Bradley Beal, who has scored a combined 85 points in the last two games, both wins. However, the Wizards are cautiously anxious to get its leader back on the floor, as Beal and Wall together are one of the best backcourts in the NBA.
