Watch: Alex Ovechkin Rips Game-Winner Past Anaheim Goalie in OT

Note to the NHL, try to keep the puck out of possession of Alex Ovechkin. The Great One had the puck in overtime and delivered. Ovechkin put away the game-winner in overtime to complete the Washington Capitals’ rally, as they downed the Anaheim Duck 3-2.

Ovechkin got the puck at center ice while waiting for a line change. But, he saw an opening working one-on-one Ducks defenseman Brandon Montour. Driving hard on the wing, Ovechkin took a slap shot at the net that got through goalie John Gibson for the win!

Ovechkin made some history and strengthen his legacy with 99th career game-winner.

With the goal, Ovechkin climbs ninth all-time on the NHL’s game-winners list, surpassing Bobby Hull and Guy Lafleur

Washington improves to 7-1-0 in the month of December after climbing out of a 2-0 hole. The win also moves them into sole possession of first place of the Metropolitan Division.
