The Washington Capitals jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Saturday night against the New Jersey Devils behind a beautiful tic-tac-toe play. Christian Djoos started the passing as the Capitals created great spacing to spread out the Devils’ defense.
The play started with Devante Smith-Pelly sending the puck ahead to Djoos. Djoos dropped the puck off to Alex Ovechkin, who zipped a pass to the left circle to Nicklas Backstrom. That pass sprawled New Jersey goalie Cory Schneider. Backstrom then sent the puck across the crease back to Djoos, who deposited the puck in the empty net for the goal.
