George Mason executed a perfect play that ended in Otis Livingston II draining a game-winning buzzer-beater to lift the Patriots to an 81-79 win over St. Joseph’s.
St. Joseph took a 79-78 lead with five seconds remaining off a layup from Chris Clover. Following a timeout, George Mason’s head coach Dave Paulsen drew up a perfect play. Guard Justin Kier set up the play with an inbounds pass before receiving a hand-off. Livingston leaked away to his spot about 25-feet from the basket. Kier then pushed the ball to him and Livingston took care of the rest.
Nothing but net, Livingston’s 25-footer propelled the Patriots to an improbable win. The dramatic win comes just one game after the Patriots got hammered by 27 points to the hands of Davidson. George Mason improves to 2-2 in the Atlantic-10 conference play.
