After a nine-game stretch that resulted in his best basketball of the season, John Wall has slowed down some. And now it appears with some explanation. His left knee, the same left knee that received PRP injections back in November, has experienced soreness. Wall sat out of the Washington Wizards’ 129-104 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Wizards head coach Scott Brooks said Wall experienced knee soreness during the team’s 12-day road trip, per Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.
While he is listed as day-to-day, there is a troubling concern about a repeat of soreness. Wall plans to fly to Cleveland and visit the doctor, who performed his 2016 knee surgeries, for a second opinion.
“Our doctors here have been doing a great job, but there’s nothing wrong with getting a second opinion,” Wall said, per Buckner.
Saturday was Wall’s 12th game he missed this season. He initially injured the knee during a Nov. 7 game against Dallas. On Nov. 25, news broke that Wall received PRP injections in the knee. He missed nine games following the procedure.
Washington jumped out to a strong 9-3 record in the first 12 games after he returned from the procedure. But, Washington had won just three of their last nine games prior to Saturday’s win in part behind a regression of Wall’s play.
Saturday’s development comes during a six-game road trip in which Washington had a 1-4 record through the first five games. Washington may have got the win on Saturday, but the focus is solely on Wall’s knee and if he will miss an further games.
