Washington Wizards point guard John Wall is doubtful for Tuesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder after receiving an MRI on his left knee. Wall has experienced swelling and soreness recently. He is now traveling to Cleveland to visit the same doctor that performed his knee surgeries in 2016. Wall’s recent issues with the bothersome knee has drawn concern within the organization.
This will be Wall’s second trip to Cleveland in two months for what seems to be lingering soreness. Candace Buckner of the Washington Post asked Washington’s head coach Scott Brooks how concerned he was with his star player’s health?
“Right now I donāt know how concerned but weāre definitely concerned that it is bothering him from time to time,ā Brooks said per Buckner.
It’s concerning as it appeared Wall’s knee issues were put behind him after a relative healthy season in 2016-17. Wall played with a pep in his step and averaged career-highs with 23.1 points, 10.7 assists, and 2.0 steals. He also shot a career-high 45.1 percent.
But, this season got off on the wrong foot as Wall struggled through knee soreness in November that led to him receiving PRP injections. He has struggled, averaging 19.4 points, 9.3 assists, and 1.3 steals — his lowest averages since 2014-15. He also is shooting 41.7 percent from the field his lowest since his rookie season in 2010-11.
Washington has struggled as a result with a 27-22 and have lost back-to-back games eight separate times this season. Hopefully, there is an easy fix to Wall’s lingering knee issues. However, it would be better sooner than later for any procedural fix needed.
