The Washington Wizards have signed guard Ramon Sessions to a 10-day contract, according to multiple reports.

This will be Sessions second stint with the Wizards. He was acquired in a 2015 (2014-15 season) trade for Andre Miller. He backed up John Wall as the Wizards swept the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the 2015 playoffs and started three games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals after Wall broke his wrist against Atlanta. He returned for a second season in 2015-16, playing in all 82 games as Washington fell short of the postseason with a 41-41 record. During that season, Sessions shot a career-high 47.3 percent from the field.
Sessions averaged 9.2 points and three assists during his time with the Wizards. However, he has struggled since leaving the team. He played the 2016-17 season with the Charlotte Hornets after signing a two-year deal. After 50 games, he suffered a knee injury and missed the remainder of the season. The Hornets declined an option for Sessions to return a second season.
He signed with the Knicks in the summer of 2017. He appeared in 13 games before the team waived him on Jan. 13.
Sessions being a part of the Wizards’ plans beyond the 10-day contract remains to be seen. The Wizards were at the league minimum of 13 players for the past two weeks after trading Sheldon Mac to the Atlanta Hawks. Washington had to sign a player Thursday to comply with the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The Wizards may be buying time to comb the buyout market. Wall, who is out with a knee injury, is not expected back to the team until, at the earliest, late-March. The team has been reportedly in search of a veteran point guard to help out the young Tomas Satoransky and the ailing Tim Frazier in the meantime. Just recently, Washington was rumored to Derrick Rose.
The Wizards still have one roster space opened with the addition of Sessions.
