REPORT: Redskins In Trade Talks With Broncos for Su’a Cravens

On Monday, a report surfaced that the Washington Redskins were actively shopping safety Su’a Cravens. It appears one team has emerged as the favorite to land the former second-round pick, as the Denver Broncos are in engaged in talks with the Redskins, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The relationship between Cravens and the Redskins is strained after Cravens abruptly contemplated retirement just before the 2017 season was to begin. The Redskins talked him out of the decision but gave him time to ponder. Shortly afterwards, they placed him on the reserved/left squad list effectively ending his chance of a return in 2017.

Washington reportedly came to the decision after several discussions with the hybrid defender. His agent revealed in a statement, Cravens was being treated for post-concussion syndrome during his time away from football. Now that he is medically cleared, Washington wants to garner some value for a player they appear to have no intentions of working with again.

Denver presents a good culture and locker room with general manager and QB legend John Elway. A potential move also gets Cravens back out to the West Coast and closer to his native Los Angeles. As for the Redskins, their need to find an assertive option opposite of D.J. Swearinger at safety will not override their lack of want for the embattled Cravens.

As Rapoport stated no deal is done, yet. So, it remains to be seen what compensation Washington can work into the deal and if any other team tries to join into Cravens’ sweepstakes.
