Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks was named the Eastern Conference’s Coach of the Month for February. Brooks guided the Wizards to an 8-4 record in the month.
Washington currently sits fourth in the Eastern Conference standings, just one game behind Cleveland for third. The Wizards’ success in February is remarkable considering they lost their star player John Wall to a knee injury that will hold him out until, at the earliest, later this month.
Washington is 10-4 without Wall, and in the month of February picked up wins against contenders, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Toronto. The Wizards finished the month with NBA’s best assist percentage. Brooks did a good job modifying Washington’s half court offense to accommodate for the lack of a play maker such as Wall.
The Houston Rockets’ Mike D’Antoni was named the Western Conference Coach of the Month for February. The Rockets finished the month a perfect 12-0. They outscored opponents by 15.6 points per 100 possessions. Houston currently has the best record in the league at 48-14.
