The Washington Redskins are looking to bolster their defensive line. Their search may take them to top defensive end free agent target Muhammad Wilkerson, as the former New York Jet is schedule to visit Washington, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Wilkerson was released by the Jets on Feb. 28 two seasons after signing a five-year deal that was worth $86 million. He has already met with the Green Bay Packer and New Orleans Saints along with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Redskins.
Wilkerson’s run in New York soured during the 2017 season. He was inactive the final three games of the season after repeatedly being late to team meetings. It will be interesting to see where the market is set for a talented All-Pro level defensive end with behavioral red flags.
Washington has two young stud defensive linemen in Jonathan Allen and Matt Ioannidis along with overachieving Anthony Lanier. In addition, they have one of the best defensive line coaches in the NFL in Jim Tomsula, making for a formidable unit even with the underachieving Stacy McGee and Terrell McClain. Adding a player of the caliber of Wilkerson would certainly bolster their rotation.
Redskins chances of signing Wilkerson will come down ultimately to price tag. Washington has options beyond Wilkerson in free agency as well as the upcoming NFL Draft that boasts a good crop of defensive ends. If the red flags drive down the asking price of Wilkerson, Washington would be an ideal fit for both sides.
