Georgetown Lands N.C. State-Transfer Omer Yurtseven

Marcus Derrickson is headed to the NBA Draft and Jessie Govan his post-mate may also follow to the next level, leaving a huge void in the post for the Georgetown Hoyas. They have seemingly softened the blow as the program announced on Monday that 7-foot-1 Omer Yurtseven has transferred from North Carolina State to play with the Hoyas.

Per NCAA transfer rules, Yurtseven will sit out the 2018-19 season and be eligible the following season to play with two years left of eligibility.

Yurtseven, a former five-star prospect from Turkey, sat out the first nine games as a freshman in 2016 over issues with his NCAA eligibility tied to his overseas career He struggled as a freshman but as a sophomore averaged 13.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 23.8 minutes per game. He appeared in 33 games for the Wolfpack and shot an impressive 50 percent from three on 44 attempts. The Wolfpack reached the NCAA tournament, ending a two-year drought.

Following the season he announced his intentions to transfer. He also considered professional options.
