Bryce Harper is playing like a man possessed. He is determined to a) will his team to contention and b) drive up his market value for his impending free agency next winter. With his team trailing 1-0 in the fifth, Harper tattooed Eric Lauer’s cutter to deep center-field for his 15th home run of the season.
Harper regained his lead in the National League with the home run. Arguably the most powerful hitter in the major leagues, Harper is tormenting pitchers who have to be perfect to get him out.
He is locked in, and every dinger or clutch hit he connects on is sure to put more money in his value. Meanwhile, the Nationals will enjoy his presence while they can as he is a show within the game.
