The euphoria of the Washington Capitals claiming the first major pro sports championship for D.C. in 26 years has spread throughout. Even NBA star and Cleveland Cavalier Jeff Green has the Capitals fever.
The Cheverly, Md. native arrived to Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland ahead of Game 4 of the NBA Finals sporting an Alex Ovechkin jersey in support of the Capitals winning their first-ever Stanley Cup on last night.
Green starred at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Md. winning a state championship in 2004. He then went on to play three seasons at Georgetown, helping guide the Hoyas to a Final Four in 2007 before entering the NBA.
Playing in his 11th season in the NBA, Green is trying to help LeBron James and the Cavaliers dig out of a 0-3 series hole against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals with a do-or-die Game 4 Friday night. While giving a nod to his hometown hockey team, Green hopes to gain some inspirations seeing the Caps claim a title to carry over on the court.
