Bryce Harper proudly proclaimed “This is for the whole city of D.C,” after winning the 2018 T-Mobile Home Run Derby in front of a packed Nationals Park.
And it sure felt like it. Coming off the city’s first major pro sports championship in 26 years with the Washington Capitals winning the Stanley Cup, Harper gave the city another proud moment in sports. Hammering home the derby at home with such a frantic rally added to jubilant moment. The city’s shaky past in sports has drawn each team closer and given a genuine support among the pro sports teams.
Wizards star player John Wall exhibited that genuine support in his celebration following Harper’s win. He was giving out high-fives to anyone near him. Afterwards Wall made sure to get a picture with the Home Run King as well.
