The Washington Redskins received a huge scare during Wednesday’s practice at training camp as third-year wide receiver Josh Doctson appeared to suffer a shoulder injury. The former TCU product has struggled with injuries in his previous two seasons in the NFL. So, when news broke of the injury, frantic thoughts were sure to creep in the mind of Redskins’ faithfuls.

The Redskins announced Doctson was being evaluated and more information would be shared on Thursday. However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport relayed that Doctson was safe from serious injury.

Later in the day, the Redskins’ 2016 first-round pick eased concerns some more with an update of his status in a tweet.

Doctson missed 14 games during his rookie season with a mysterious Achilles injury. The injury left the Redskins perplexed and unable to pinpoint the issue. He did play in all 16 games in 2017 recording 35 receptions for 502 yards and six touchdowns. But, he has been unable to shake criticism of his health and toughness. Before training camp was to begin this year, he received an MRI on his Achilles, however, he checked out fine for any issues.

This season is viewed as a make-or-break year for Doctson, who is being counted on to step up his production to help along a wide receiver group that also features recently signed Paul Richardson and the reliable Jamison Crowder.

How will the his shoulder affect his reps for the remainder of training camp and the preseason remains to be seen. But given his history, there will be plenty of eyes checking in to any misstep or hiccup of Doctson.
