Critics of Bryce Harper may have monetarily been silenced on Tuesday afternoon. With his Washington Nationals trailing the Atlanta Braves 1-0 in the fourth inning of the first of a crucial four-game series, Harper responded with a lead-off solo shot that left Nats Park in a hurry.

The blast tied the game at 1-1 and was the Home Run Derby champion’s 27th of the season.
Harper has been on a tear since winning the Derby and his contributions have helped the Nats win 7 of their last 10 games. The energy of the moment carried over as the next batter, Ryan Zimmerman, hit a solo shot for back-to-back home runs to give the Nationals a 2-1 advantage.

The Nationals would go on to put four runs up in total in the inning, sending nine batters to the box. Tuesday’s matinee is the first game of a doubleheader to make up a rained out game between the two clubs earlier this year.
