Redskins running back Derrius Guice will undergo an MRI sometime on Friday after suffering a knee injury on a first-quarter carry of Thursday’s preseason opener that was negated by a holding penalty. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the second-round pick was diagnosed with a sprained MCL initially.

Guice was hobbled after the run and was attended to on the sidelines before being escorted to the trainer’s table. While he was seen with ice wrap and favoring his leg, Guice said he was not worried about the knee in the locker room following the Redskins’ 26-17 loss to the New England Patriots.

The Redskins can only cross their fingers that this is not a significant injury that will hold back Guice.
