As the Washington Redskins continue their search to get able bodies to play running back for the final two weeks of the preseason, their search will turn to seven-time Pro Bowler and the 2012 NFL MVP Adrian Peterson. Peterson will visit the Redskins on Monday, according a report by NFL Network.
The #Redskins are hosting veteran RB Adrian Peterson, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. The Pro Bowler is an intriguing option for Washington.

Peterson, 33, started six games for the Arizona Cardinals last season after being traded from the New Orleans Saints with the emergence of NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Alvin Kamara. Peterson rushed for 529 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games between both teams.
In May, Peterson claimed he had multiple suitors and that he was “ready” to get back on a team. However, no deals came to fruition and now Peterson will workout with a Redskins’ team that is desperate to get a healthy running back or two for the final two preseasons.
The Redskins have been hit hard with injuries, depleting a running back corps that healthy may be arguably one of the most talented in the NFL. First, second-round draft pick and potential starter Derrius Guice suffered a torn ACL in Washington’s preseason opener, effectively ending his rookie season. On Thursday in their second preseason game, Washington lost Samaje Perine for at least one week and Byron Marshall for two to four weeks with ankle injuries. Undrafted rookie Martez Carter also was injured in the game, and was waived with an injury destination on Saturday.
The Redskins also hosted Jamaal Charles and Orleans Darkwa for visits on Sunday. The Redskins are now down to two fully healthy backs, Robert Kelley and Kapri Bibbs while Chris Thompson continues to work his way back from a broken leg he suffered last November.
