Adrian Peterson ran all over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday along with fellow Washington Redskins running back Chris Thompson in dominating fashion. Peterson also reached a milestone in the process, rushing for his 100th career touchdown. Lost in the hoopla of the play was the fact the Redskins used outside linebacker Ryan Anderson as the fullback in the goal line formation.

Washington entered the 2018 season without a fullback on the roster after final cuts. So, they have to be creative when needing a lead back for Peterson, Thompson or Robert Kelley. Anderson was the lucky guy when the Redskins were set up near the end zone looking for a touchdown.
Anderson cleared the gap for Peterson by putting his hat on Cardinals linebacker Josh Bynes, as Peterson slipped into the end zone to put the Redskins ahead 14-0 following the extra point.
This is not the first time Anderson has had the pleasure of being a fullback for the Redskins, as they used him most notably last season in a Week 9 win over the Seattle Seahawks in which he helped block for a pair of Rob Kelley’s one-yard touchdown runs. Then, Gruden joked Anderson blocked the wrong guy on both plays. There is no word yet if Anderson was supposed to block Bynes on Sunday’s play. Nevertheless, it was an effective block that help spring Peterson to pay dirt.
