Finally, Redskins fans Alex Smith proves he can throw the ball down the field!
After two games full of check down passes, the Redskins offense caught the Green Bay Packers defense napping, as Smith found wide receiver Paul Richardson on a skinny post 46 yards to pay dirt on the opening drive.
Richardson was initially double teamed as he was running his route, but Packers safety Kentrell Brice misplayed the ball and overran his key allowing Richardson to come down with the catch. Richardson wisely got up and finish the play for the touchdown.

The catch was also encouraging to the health of Richardson who was limited through the week in practice with a shoulder and knee injury. The shoulder was bothersome enough, he received an MRI.
The connection was by far the longest passing play to a wide receiver this season and gives the Redskins an early 7-0 lead. Against even a one-legged Aaron Rodgers, points are a premium and this is the best possible start for the Redskins. That play energized the whole team early, as an Adrian Peterson score pushed the lead to 14-0 in the first quarter.
