Bryce Harper Brought to Tears in Emotional Interview after Possible Final Game with Nats

Bryce Harper may have played his final game with the Washington Nationals on Sunday. The 25-year old finished 2-for-5 with two doubles in the season finale against Colorado. After it all was said and done, Harper reflected on the season, his final at-bat, and his pending free agency. The reflection brought the six-time All-Star to tears as he understood what Sunday could be.

Harper has continued to say he would “love” to re-sign with the Nationals, as he did in the interview with Dan Kolko of MASN Sports. He has stated in the past he would love to play next to top prospects Juan Soto and Victor Robles in the outfield.

The emotional interview was endearing to Nationals fans who will certainly miss Harper if he opts to go play for another team. The possibility is very likely considering his asking price of at least $400 million and the arrival of Robles and Soto.

The interview certainly was touching of how Harper feels about the team that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2010 and is disappointing considering, the way the 2018 season has gone for the Nationals. Once pegged for the World Series, the Nats will end their season 82-80 well short of the postseason, it’s first miss of the playoffs since 2015.
