Adrian Peterson has 102 rushing touchdowns in his illustrious career, however, his contributions to the passing game have been minimal throughout his career. That is until he arrived in Washington this season.
Entering Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, Peterson had 144 receiving yards, averaging 18 yards per reception and 24 yards per game. Both easily the highest of his NFL career as he has played an increased role in the Redskins’ passing game.
In the first quarter against the Giants, Peterson flashed open out of the backfield for a seven-yard touchdown reception from Alex Smith for his first receiving touchdown since Week 1 of the 2013 season.

Peterson’s score gave the Redskins an early 7-0 lead. The score was also pivotal, as the Redskins are 4-0 on when they score first and have yet to lose a lead this season.
Injuries to both receiving running backs, Chris Thompson (ribs) and Kapri Bibbs (shoulder) early in the game, Peterson may get more opportunities to contribute to the Redskins’ passing game.
